Category A1 Rules For Motorcyclists
The rules for category a1 apply to those who wish to drive small motorcycles. These motorcycles have a maximum cylinder power of 35 kW. They are not derived directly from vehicles with more than double their power.
Open category drone operations are divided into three subcategories - A1 to A3. You can fly drones with class labels C0 or C1 within the A1 subcategory (fly over people) until January 2024.
A1

Category A1 is one of the three EASA drone categories. It is applicable to aircraft that have a maximum take-off mass (MTOM) of up to 25 kilograms. It requires a log of flight and a flight plan as well as an identification system for remote use and a geoawareness. The drone should be within sight of the pilot at all times. It is not permitted to fly over people or areas that are used for commercial, recreational or industrial reasons. The drone must remain at a minimum of 120 meters above ground level.

The applicants for an A1 license must have at minimum 16 years of experience riding two-wheeled motor vehicles. They must also have completed the obligatory basic training, and passed both a theory and a practical test. They also need to have an official medical certificate.
A1 license holders are allowed to drive mopeds with the capacity of cylinders not more than 1250 cc, and a power-to-weight ratio of no more than 0.01 kW/kg. They are also able to drive motorcycles with an cylinder capacity of not more than 125cc, as well as trikes and quad bikes.

A2 permits you to fly drones with transitional capabilities, which are not yet CE-marked but have been modified to lessen collision risk with humans. These drones will only be permitted to fly in A2 until end of 2022. After that, they will need to be in compliance with the A3 regulations.
The A1 and A2 categories can help you develop into a confident and secure motorcyclist. The number of lessons needed will depend on your ability and progress in learning, however, you must complete a certain amount of special rides. This is a minimum of five lessons on country road and four on highways and three in the morning or in darkness.
A3
This category permits flights with drones that have the maximum mass for take-off of up to 25 kg. To operate a drone in this category, you need to first pass the online test for identification of flyers and then take a theoretical exam. A4
The DOH is currently working on specific guidelines to be used in category A4. These guidelines will be compatible with other operations and will include specifics such as the number of dressings changed each day. They will be presented to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infections (IATF-EID) and the DOH National Immunization Technical Advisory Group. When they are approved the guidelines will be reviewed and approved by both the DOH National Immunization Technical Advisory Group and the IATF-EID.
In this category, drones that have a class identification label C0 and C1 are able to fly within a minimum distance of 50 metres from people who are not involved. This is a very low-risk subcategory, however, strict precautions must still be taken to prevent accidents. Drones that are not classified in either A1 or A2 must have passed an additional test of theoretical knowledge to be operated in this subcategory.
This examination aims to assess knowledge of the added dangers associated with flying drones near people. The certificate of competence is awarded upon the successful completion of this test. The pilot must maintain a minimum of 30 metres between the aircraft and all uninvolved persons or 5 metres when flying in slow-flight mode.
